6th grade - Multi-color Relief Printmaking

Which part of the plate should you carve if you want a black line? Students planned ahead in order to create three different printing plates to layer colors, creating dynamic original artworks of cut fruit and vegetables. Using resources such as workbooks, peers, table toppers and their intuition, artists developed autonomy and confidence as they problem solved through this project.

7th grade - Artist Trading Cards

Wanna trade? Seventh graders created personalized artist trading cards using mixed media and color theory. Students made signs for their ATC exhibit. After the work hung for one week, we held a trading day- artists swapped cards between themselves.

8th grade - Collaborative Sculpture Project

When is form convincing? Artists developed material manipulation techniques, creative problem solving and interpersonal skills during a 1-day Krabby Patty challenge. Teams built different ingredients using visual and physical examples as their only references in order to put together a complete Krabby Patty at the end of a period. Next, teams embarked on a longer collaborative project, building group sculptures with individual components that when placed together, formed a cohesive whole.
