My name is Lauren Berg. I am a working artist living in Midcoast Maine. I am a freelance graphic designer, muralist, and stained glass artist. For more information on my personal art practice, please visit: www.botanicmagic.studio.
As an arts-educator, I bring my artistic sensibility and organizational skills with me to the art room and keep my kindness, empathy and intuition just as sharp in my tool belt. I maintain a thriving personal artistic practice, while enjoying my time as a dynamic and switched on arts-educator supporting and embracing the diversity of every learner. I am currently seeking new opportunities to apply both my artistic and educational skills in the Midcoast.
Having lived both nationally and internationally, I have become familiar with many different communities and learning environments, adapting quickly to new situations. In May 2018 I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Maine College of Art and in 2007, I earned my BFA in Graphic Design at the Rhode Island School of Design with an undeclared minor in Painting. My artistic preferences lie in traditional 2-d media such as painting, drawing, mixed media and collage. I have dabbled in digital & film photography, clay, stained glass, fiber, cardboard, batik, papier-mache, jewelry, book binding, and it goes on… I am extremely curious and jump at the chance to try something new. I love discovering new and different artists, visiting museums and exploring galleries. Some of my favorite projects and lesson plans have been designed directly inspired by an art exhibit. It is very rewarding to facilitate an environment that makes art and artistry approachable to all people and learning styles, and can lead to some pretty profound and inspiring art making!
I was in Brooklyn for 10 years after college, employed full time at a farm to table/ event space as the Director of Operations booking and running up to 200 events per year. I am skilled in the managing of people, time and emotions. I am very organized, ambitious and supportive.
